How to Train Your Dragon - In Concert

Two unlikely heroes, an epic story of friendship despite all differences, of courage and adventure, full of humor and thrilling action—DreamWorks creates breathtaking cinematic dreams for the whole family. This is also true of the story of the young Viking Hiccup, who defies his village’s conventions and befriends one of his deadliest enemies—a dragon.

For the first time in Germany, this impressive film will be shown on a big screen, while John Powell’s soundtrack is performed live by the Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra. Image and music merge into a stunning total work of art and a live experience of exceptional intensity.

Hicks, the son of the Viking chieftain, isn’t exactly what you’d call a shining hero. And yet he manages the unimaginable: he befriends a dragon, one of those terrifying creatures that make life difficult for the Viking tribe. After injuring the dragon Toothless during their first encounter, he manages to get him flying again, and together they can face their true enemy.

The enchanting animated adventure “How to Train Your Dragon” thrives on its funny and endearing characters, its impressive imagery, its fast-paced aerial chases—and, not least, a score that captivatingly breathes musical life into it all. Composer John Powell received an Oscar® and Golden Globe nomination in 2011, among many other awards, for his opulent film score inspired by Nordic soundscapes.
