The Klassische Philharmonie Bonn opens the season dramatically with Beethoven's "Coriolan" overture, continuing the tradition of starting the season with a work by the great son of its home city. After the dramatic opening, the program features Johannes Brahms' Double Concerto and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6, two works whose creators could hardly have been more different: While Brahms' Double Concerto is novel in the history of the genre and sounds as if it has been shaken by fate, Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6, nicknamed the "Pathétique", features wistful sounds that deal with death and transience. In addition to Alexander Hülshoff on the podium, young Stretton Society scholarship holders Darius Preuß and Alexander Warenberg will perform the solo parts in this concert.
