An evening on László Krasznahorkai
Heike Flemming and Lothar Müller
"Each of my books should shift the literary map," says László Krasznahorkai, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature this fall. Already awarded the International Man Booker Prize in 2015, the author, who was born in Gyula, Hungary in 1954, is considered one of the most versatile and headstrong writers in Europe. He also became known to a wider audience in Germany with his novel "Melancholy of Resistance". Most recently, he published the novel "Herscht 07769" about the helpful muscleman Florian Herscht, who believes the universe is about to collapse into nothingness, as well as the collection of stories "Im Wahn der Anderen", translated by Heike Flemming. Together with the author and long-time editor of the Süddeutsche Zeitung, Lothar Müller, the literary translator will present the newly crowned Nobel Prize winner and his work in a reading and discussion, which will be expanded to include his new novel "Zsömle ist weg" just in time for the event.
