A boy called Renate
It wasn't planned that way - it just turned out that way
Mr. Baisch's journey began with the miracle of his birth, which was so mysterious that it is still celebrated today in his home town with an annual folk festival as the Miracle of Ehingen. At the center of the comedic-musical reading evening are texts that Roland Baisch draws from his own life's journey as a magnificently embellished portrait of western post-war Germany.
He only narrowly escaped the stuffiness of his youth with the help of music, entertainment on a journey into the unknown: "Ein Junge namens Renate" is a full grab bag of songs and stories that touch - and plenty of humor off the beaten comedy track. Baron Münchhausen meets the serious side of life, Johnny Cash meets Frank Sinatra and Harald Juhnke.
Roland Baisch is accompanied congenially by Frank Wekenmann on the guitar, who lends the stories the right sound with his fine instinct and virtuoso playing.
Even though there may be 389 ways to touch an audience - Roland Baisch knows them all. (Stuttgarter Zeitung)
