Within a year, the young musicians of Barock_Plus have won four international prizes and are now touring from festival to festival. With their energy, virtuosity and joy of playing, they delight every audience. The program title "Cross and Crown" is meant literally in that it refers to the central patrons of music: Both the church and secular rulers were the most important patrons of sacred works until well into the 18th century. Interestingly, women composers were also supported as early as the Middle Ages - such as the nun Isabella Leonarda (1620-1704), who wrote sonatas as well as sacred music.
