Eröffnungskonzert: SOMMERSERENADE TANGO

Location:
Theaterhaus, Siemensstr. 11, 70469 Stuttgart

The opening concert of the 14th Stuttgart Choir Days 2026 is all about a seductive tango on a balmy summer night. VokalWerk Stuttgart invites you to a concert evening that focuses on the sensual power and emotional intensity of this music. The tango is far more than just a style: it embodies longing, closeness and a deep human expressiveness that is transferred directly to the music and the audience.

At the heart of the program is Martin Palmeri's Misa a Buenos Aires, an extraordinary composition that combines the traditional form of the mass with the passionate spirit of tango argentino. This work combines musical innovation with emotional depth and opens up a tonal dialog between liturgical tradition and South American musical culture.

The program is complemented by works such as Don't Cry for Me Argentina and El Tango de Roxanne, which use well-known melodies and dramatic expression to bring further facets of tango to life and intensify the atmosphere of the evening.

The choir works together with the Cuarteto Rotterdam, whose bandoneon playing plays a central role in the sound, to ensure an authentic performance. The soloists are Ines Lex and Marc Hohnhaus, whose musical dedication and virtuosity significantly shape the expressiveness of the program.

This evening promises to be an intense concert experience that combines musical passion, cultural diversity and emotional depth in a coherent overall concept.
