Euridice

Location:
Kultur- und Kongresszentrum Liederhalle, Berliner Platz 1-3, 70174 Stuttgart

How often has Orpheus enchanted us with his supernatural voice?
But on this special concert evening, the focus is not on him, but on Euridice - his great love, his muse and his greatest loss.
The famous Orpheus myth is told anew: from the perspective of the woman whose voice has so often gone unheard in (musical) history. In an impressive interplay of music and words, Euridice regains her own voice.

The focus is on an interdisciplinary concept in which music, literature and interpretation combine to create a shared narrative space. The works of Francesco Cavalli, Giulio Caccini, Barbara Strozzi, Biagio Marini and Claudio Monteverdi open up a sonorous world full of emotion and drama. At the same time, the lyricism of Baroque poets such as Gaspara Stampa and Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz lends the evening an additional poetic dimension. Their verses merge with the highly emotional compositions of the Seicento to create a sensual portrait of female identity and allow Euridice and the voices of her contemporaries to be heard.

A concert evening for all those who want to hear the myth anew and experience it from a different perspective.
