Film: „Asadur – Auf der Suche nach der verlorenen Identität

Location:
Kursaal Bad Cannstatt, Königsplatz 1, 70372 Stuttgart

The documentary tells the moving story of Asadur, who grew up in Malatya and was forced to deny his Armenian roots. It was only at an advanced age that he broke his silence and embarked on an intensive search for traces of his suppressed identity.
The camera accompanies him on this journey through his hometown and as he explores the history of his family, whose fate is closely linked to the Armenian genocide. In particular, the memory of his grandfather, an Armenian Catholic priest, brings home to Asadur the deep ruptures of the past.

The film shows how the denial of the genocide not only shapes the collective memory, but also the reality of individual lives to this day. Asadur's search becomes a symbol of the struggle for truth, identity and dignity.

This will be followed by a film discussion with Mesut Ethem Kavalli (screenwriter), which will give viewers the opportunity to ask questions and deepen their impressions of the evening.
