Susanne Riegler's documentary is not only a film about an art movement that was ignored for decades, but also a contemporary document in which female artists have their say as cultural-political activists and protagonists of the women's movement. The collecting activities of Gabriele Schor, the founding director of the SAMMLUNG VERBUND, were essential to the success of feminist art in the 1970s on the international art market. In the film, the namesake of the feminist avant-garde explains how she came up with the term, which has since become an integral part of art historiography.
