Frazey Ford
Frazey Ford was born in Canada, where her parents emigrated in the early 1970s to avoid her father being drafted by the US Army for the Vietnam War. Before settling in the Kootenays region of British Columbia, the family lived in communes for several years. As Ford revealed in an interview, she spent her childhood in an unconventional atmosphere full of "poetry, travel and Bob Dylan". Ford began her musical career in the 1990s when she met her future bandmates from The Be Good Tanyas Sam Parton and Trish Klein in Nelson. The three soon discovered their shared interest in old-time music and moved to East Vancouver, where they initially tried their hand together as amateur musicians. While Parton and Klein tended more towards classic country and folk, Ford felt more drawn to soul.
