What makes a book "dangerous"? From challenges in schools and libraries to heated debates about sexuality, race and identity, literature has been questioned, censored and challenged in many countries for centuries. As part of Banned Books Week 2025, Jennifer Gouck's talk will explore recently banned or challenged books in the United States, with a particular focus on children's and young adult literature. Jennifer Gouck, Woman in Research Fellow at the University of Münster, talks about what these debates reveal about freedom, control, and the unbroken and enduring power of literature.
