Truman Capote: Breakfast at Tiffany's
Markus Meyer reads Truman Capote's "Breakfast at Tiffany's" Chris Hopkins (p) and Thilo Wagner (p) play Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Henry Mancini and others.
The WAZ Essen writes: "In the sold-out Gtillo Theater, there was now a highly entertaining sequel to Truman Capote's short novel "Breakfast at Tiffany's". Markus Meyer, who is based at Vienna Castle, performed the text in such a delightfully untheatrical and entertaining way that time flew by..... The two pianists Chris Hopkins and Thilo Wagner wove all kinds of thematically appropriate standards into the original with verve, wit and brilliant technique, providing a harmonious commentary on the events, which constantly alternated between melancholy and exuberance..... Of course, film fans were also treated to Henry Mancini's Oscar-winning "Moon River", which Markus Meyer delicately inspired with his delicately fragrant singing voice. And was not only enthusiastically celebrated for it. Finally, Gershwin's "S Wonderful" as a piano encore put the perfect exclamation mark on a literary-jazz evening that was indeed wonderful."
