GEE HYE LEE TRIO feat. Bänsch & Kuhn // Encounters

Exactly one year after their acclaimed release concert, the international Gee Hye Lee Trio (KR/D/CH) returns to BIX with virtuoso drummer Mareike Wiening and outstanding double bassist Joel Locher

Once again together with special guests Jakob Bänsch (trumpet) and Alexander Sandi Kuhn (saxophone). Together, they will create an evening that is all about musical encounters. With Encounters, released in March 2025, pianist Gee Hye Lee presents her seventh album, which has already met with a great response. The music only unfolds its full radiance live: each composition is told anew in the moment - full of energy, joy of playing and bold experiments.

The trio, which has been intuitively connected for years, opens itself up to the colors and voices of the two wind players. The result is a sound spectrum that ranges from lyrical tenderness to powerful outbursts. Gee Hye Lee creates space for the ideas of her fellow musicians, so that fine, multi-layered soundscapes emerge in their joint playing, which come to life in the interaction with the audience.

Encounters at BIX in January is an invitation to experience this interplay in all its diversity - an evening full of openness, nuances and musical radiance.
