Film screening and panel discussion
The Hungarian-born artist György Kepes - influenced by the spirit of Bauhaus and a teacher at the New Bauhaus in Chicago - became a key figure in media art in the USA. The new feature-length documentary film by Márton Orosz traces Kepes' life and in particular sheds light on his work in the context of the Cold War. The film shows how Kepes - in the face of technological armament and global tensions - called for a humanization of technology and understood art as a mediating instance between man and machine. The multi-award-winning film was recently awarded the prize for best portrait film in Budapest.
Followed by a panel discussion with Márton Orosz and Prof. Dr. Michael Resch.
