For the house lanterns, we use the Schröder house by Gerrit Rietveld (De Stijl). Colors, shapes and lines look like floating planes. Bright red, yellow and blue characterize the design. Our house is a tetrapack with large windows. Transparent paper overlaps and creates new colors.
For the house lanterns, this time we are looking at the Schröder house: Colors, geometric shapes and lines together make a house! Gerrit Rietveld from the Dutch artist group De Stijl came up with the idea. Layers seem to float on top of each other. By turning and sliding, wall surfaces transform the room. You discover a bright red at the window, behind it a yellow wall or a blue door. These colorful surfaces and layers are to be placed on the house lantern today!
Our 'house' is a tetrapack with large windows. Then we try out pieces of tracing paper: they meet, overlap and form new colors and shapes. The houses can be lit up at home with lights or fairy lights!
