"Chopin has always been like an idol to me, and his music has been very close to my heart since I was a child. As I developed as a musician, I realized how naturally he influenced my own compositions." With this confession, the Japanese pianist Hayato Sumino shows how strongly the music of the Polish Romantic has influenced him artistically. The program will therefore be supplemented by Sumino's own works and free improvisations, which rethink Chopin's sound world from today's perspective. Colorful contrasts are provided by Camille Saint-Saëns with the "Danse macabre", Thomas Adès with a modern mazurka and Igor Stravinsky in Guido Agosti's spectacular piano version of the "Firebird".
An evening between classical tradition, contemporary tonal language and creative freedom.
