Herbert Pixner Projekt

Location:
Theaterhaus, Siemensstr. 11, 70469 Stuttgart

He has been called the Jimi Hendrix of folk music or the Frank Zappa of the Alps. He has been compared to Piazzola and Paganini and yet the South Tyrolean-born musician has created and developed a completely unmistakable musical style over the years. We are talking about Herbert Pixner, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and namesake of the Herbert Pixner Project.

The Herbert Pixner Project has been one of the most successful representatives of "progressive folk music" for two decades now. With playful, lascivious gentleness, powerful rock and blues riffs, brilliant technique, bold improvisations and borrowings from tango, flamenco and jazz, they have been delighting audiences for years. They sound minimalist, rugged, dreamy but always authentic. They weave a diverse tapestry of sound, there is room for gentle melancholy and also for outbursts that stop at nothing. Even after 2000 (!) sold-out concerts, Herbert Pixner and his congenial fellow musicians continue to electrify their audience with their ecstatic joy of playing at every concert.

Press reviews:
"All of this is Alpine world music without cultural arbitrariness and with musicality at its peak. It embodies the urge for freedom and the storm of romance, wildness - and above all unbridled fun." - Abendzeitung Munich.

"This is free, untamed, sometimes cool and reserved, sometimes so passionately demanding that you almost forget that there are only four people on stage live. This is what music should sound like in a world in which boundaries cannot be clearly drawn. In which everything seems to fall apart and yet everything somehow belongs together." - Münchner Merkur

"Sometimes the music is powerful, sometimes restrained, sometimes it looks at the earth, sometimes at the stars. Sounds that shine!" - FF-South Tyrolean weekly magazine
