The saddest love story in the world, Orpheus and Eurydice, has influenced Rainer Maria Rilke more than almost any other poet, who even dedicated one of his most important cycles to the demigod of poetry. But what does this myth still tell us today? Who would the fin de siècle poet be thinking of these days? Perhaps a man writing to his distant lover from the war front? Or would he call out to the one waiting at home, who alone still manages poverty: "I want to guide you quietly / out of this noise, which has long since made me sick too"? For both sides, the written words alone promise support. The more we enter the world of these characters' letters, the more a work grows before our eyes. At the brightest moment, we think that it is speaking to us: "You must change your life." To mark the 150th anniversary of Rainer Maria Rilke's birth, we invite you to a musical poetry performance that explores a contemporary resonance chamber for the poet's poetry, which meanders between jubilation and despair.
