I Dream of Peace

Lukas Grimm introduces himself as the new Artistic Director of the Württemberg Chamber Choir with a program of distinct topicality. Under the title "I Dream of Peace", a cappella choral music from five centuries moves at the interface between secular and sacred, old and new, known and unknown. The title is taken from the multilingual composition "When I Close my Eyes, I Dream of Peace" by Karin Rehnqvist. Unknown pieces include "Warning to the Rich" by Thomas Jennefelt and "Gegen den Krieg" by Hanns Eisler, followed by more familiar pieces such as "Verleih uns Frieden" by Heinrich Schütz and "Warum toben die Heiden" by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. The concert concludes with the powerful work "Peace on Earth" by Arnold Schönberg. The music is linked by thematically appropriate recitations. The well-known actress Astrid M. Fünderich (SOKO Stuttgart, among others) has been engaged for this.

Before the concert (5.15 p.m.), Lukas Grimm will talk to the Stuttgart art mediator and politician Sara Dahme about the program and his future work with the Württemberg Chamber Choir.
