Ich, Bertolt Brecht - Dialog mit dem Dichter

Location:
Theater tri-bühne, Eberhardstraße 61A, 70173 Stuttgart

An educational theater event with drama, music and artificial intelligence

What if one of the most influential playwrights of the 20th century came back to talk to us?

The theater production "I, Bertolt Brecht - Dialogue with the Poet" dares to try this experiment: in an extraordinary interplay of technology, acting and music, the audience encounters a talking Brecht avatar. This was created on the basis of original sound recordings, visual material and literary texts. He quotes from his poems, writings and letters - and at the same time reflects on his artificial resurrection.

But the evening is far more than a conversation with a machine:
The ensemble takes up what has been said, sets Brecht's thoughts in motion and confronts them with the present. In short scenes, essayistic fragments and musical interventions, a lively dialog is created - not only with the artificial Brecht, but also between generations, ideals and ideologies.

The central question is: What can Brecht's texts still tell us today - and how do we respond to them?

The musical world of the evening is rich and multi-layered: well-known and rarely heard Brecht songs are performed in new musical interpretations, live on stage. The music is not just an atmospheric means, but an active participant in the dialog between past and present. It creates its own space for thought - in which Brecht's traditional words continue to have an effect and are heard anew.

The artificial Brecht does not claim to be alive, but he is present - and speaks.

As he himself says:

"The dead cannot express an opinion - but their works can enter into conversation with the present."
