Literature and its mediators
Moderation: Thomas Richhardt
What is the secret of a captivating story? What makes us want to keep reading or put the book aside forever? And how do those who professionally decide on manuscripts read - with what glasses, what goal, what degree of patience? This time, the "Literature and its Agents" series focuses on those who ensure that good stories find their way into a publisher's program with a clear eye, sharp judgment and passionate intuition. Julia Heinen is an editor, critical sparring partner and sensitive trailblazer for literary material. She talks to dramaturge Thomas Richhardt about how she recognizes the potential of a book. An evening about hunting instinct, a feeling for language, text work - and the great desire for the moment when a story won't let us go. Julia Heinen worked at the Institute for German Literature and its Didactics at the University of Frankfurt, as a bookseller and in various publishing houses in Stuttgart, Hamburg and Frankfurt. She has been an editor for international literature at S. Fischer Verlag since 2022.
