I met my murderer - A journalist and the dark side of power
Can Dündar
Moderation: Şebnem Bahadır
Based on a spectacular case of political persecution, Dündar tells the true story of an attempt on his own life. After reporting on secret Turkish arms supplies to Islamist groups, he was sentenced to 27 years in prison in Turkey - and narrowly escaped an assassination attempt outside the courthouse. Years later, he visits the man in prison who was supposed to kill him. This encounter leads him to research an international network of secret deals between democratic and autocratic governments and their links to organized crime. Can Dündar is one of Turkey's best-known journalists. As former editor-in-chief of the newspaper Cumhuriyet, he has received several awards for his investigative work. In exile in Germany, he is tirelessly committed to press freedom and democratic values. With his online medium, he continues to provide a platform for critical voices from Turkey.
