The Association of Expellees invites you to the lecture: In the heart of Tauria: The history of the Crimean Germans with the speaker Peter Harder in the Haus der Heimat Stuttgart.
Among the German settlers who settled in Russia, the Black Sea Germans were an important group. Part of this group were the Germans on the Crimean peninsula, who settled there in several waves of immigration at the beginning of the 19th century. At times, they were the largest population group after the Eastern Slavs and Crimean Tatars. The lecture will provide an insight into the historical developments, achievements and fate of the German colonists in Crimea.
Peter Harder, born in 1998, a descendant of Crimean Germans, is a Master's student of history at the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg and is active in several ethnic German associations.
