Armenian indie rock from Yerevan

One of Armenia’s best-known rock bands is coming to Stuttgart—and will be playing in a venue with just 300 seats.

Nemra was founded in Yerevan in 2012 and blends indie and alternative rock with Armenian influences. The band sings in English and Armenian, frequently drawing on traditional Armenian melodies and translating them into a unique, modern rock sound.

Nemra really unleashes all its energy in live performances: direct, powerful, and close to the audience. In July 2025, the band performed as a guest of Zemfira in front of around 40,000 people at Hrasdan Stadium in Yerevan; in 2026, they shared the stage with the Icelandic rock band Kaleo at Hamalir.

Nemra has also made a name for itself internationally. In 2024, they collaborated with Serj Tankian, lead singer of System of a Down, on the song “I’m Afraid of Stars.” At the 2022 Starmus Festival, the band also met Queen guitarist Brian May.

With their third album, “The End of the Party,” Nemra turns its gaze toward a present that seems to be growing ever faster and more superficial. The band counters this with music that can move, hurt, remind, and at the same time unleash new energy.

In Stuttgart, Nemra won’t be performing in front of tens of thousands, but up close and personal: there are only 300 seats in the Silcher Hall at the Liederhalle.
