It’s summer in a small German town where Carla is growing up with her sister Nora. They’re going through everything that matters to teenagers their age: friendships, parties, secrets, first loves. Their mother, Monika, keeps everything running smoothly, organizes things, takes care of them, and looks out for them. Everything seems normal. But Carla knows: something isn’t right. She senses it long before she can put it into words. In her debut, *Irgendwann verglüht die Sonne* (*Someday the Sun Will Burn Out*), Andrea Profetto explores questions of the body and identity, of power and vulnerability. Born in 1995, she lives in Stuttgart and, together with Jule Steinmetz, curates the series “zwischen/miete. Young Literature in Stuttgart Shared Apartments.”
