Jakob Manz & Friends
- Location:
- Theaterhaus, Siemensstr. 11, 70469 Stuttgart
Jakob Manz is one of the most sought-after and successful saxophonists in young German jazz. He is the current jazz resident at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, regularly plays with his own bands at major jazz festivals and accompanies pop stars such as Sarah Connor on her arena tour.
Exclusively for the Theaterhaus Jazztage, he presents "Sounds between Two Worlds". In the first half, he has invited Shuteen Erdenebaatar, born in Mongolia, among others. "Shuteen's music has an incredible vastness, melancholy and transports us to another world," says Jakob Manz. Shuteen recently released the album "Under The Same Stars" together with bassist Nils Kugelmann. He will also be taking part in this unique evening and will also be playing the rare contra alto clarinet. Nesrine's music has a similar breadth. The singer and cellist of French-Algerian descent unites the entire musical world of the Mediterranean, from North Africa to Southern Europe, and has worked with legendary conductors such as Lorin Maazel and Daniel Barenboim.
After the broad and expansive depth of the first set, The Jakob Manz Project follows in the second set. Gripping, rousing grooves and a high level of explosiveness. It's a home game for the band, Stuttgart and its jazz clubs are the origin of The Jakob Manz Project, in 2017 the band joined forces and played over 60 concerts in Germany, Switzerland, Romania and Sweden with their second album "The Answer" (ACT 2024).
The whole evening will be completed by Rhani Krija. The renowned percussionist masters an unbridled variety of grooves and has played with Richard Bona, Sting and countless other artists.
This evening has both - boundless melancholic depth and percussive, gripping funk. Sounds between Two Worlds!
