Jaya the Cat takes you on a night out that's sure to get weird. You'll dance, laugh and sing along at the top of your voice, even if you can't actually sing. You'll find yourself tapping your foot and nodding your head even though you're "not really into reggae, I'm a metal guy". You'll be happier than you thought possible*. You'll end up in places you didn't even know existed. And somehow you'll make it home safely, with your keys, phone and wallet intact. Jaya the cat will leave glitter confetti on your bedroom floor and invite you in for breakfast. Or lunch, because breakfast is definitely too early for everyone here. Originally from Boston, Jaya the Cat has relocated to Amsterdam and, with a crew of diverse international musicians, is perfecting the art of mixing the most amazing musical cocktail to get you through this night and into the next, with equal parts reggae, punk and ska, a splash of electronic and a dash of dub with a shot of whiskey on the side. In between a relentless touring schedule of clubs and festivals across Europe and beyond, which is downright bewildering considering everything they do, they recently spent a month in Berlin recording their fifth studio album, which will be released in November 2017. "A Good Day For The Damned" continues the path the band has taken with their previous releases. Through city streets and across moonlit beaches, past carnivals and cemeteries and drunken sunrises, come 15 new tales of heartbreak and joy, political confusion and existential madness, but in the end also of optimism.
