Jonas Kaufmann

Location:
Kultur- und Kongresszentrum Liederhalle Stuttgart Beethoven-Saal, Berliner Platz 3, 70174 Stuttgart

"His intensity and elegance, combined with his musicality and radiant looks, make him the epitome of the opera star in the 21st century," enthused the editor of Opera News. Star tenor, heartbreaker and a true Munich child: Jonas Kaufmann is still the most sought-after tenor in the top international ranks. The singer is just as much in demand internationally in the Italian and French opera repertoire as he is in the German. He has sung Verdi's "Otello" in London, Munich and Naples and "Aida" at the Arena di Verona, among other venues. For him, the magic lies "in the subtlety of expression"."I am very receptive to what music conveys," he says and sees it as a force that moves emotions.

Following his major "Viva Puccini" tour at the end of 2024, Kaufmann will return to Stuttgart's Liederhalle in spring 2027 with soprano Marina Rebeka and the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz under the direction of Jochen Rieder. This time, the "greatest tenor of these days" (The Daily Telegraph) devotes himself entirely to the second grand master of Italian opera: with arias, duets and scenes from popular works by Giuseppe Verdi, the celebrated specialist takes the audience into a world full of drama, emotion and burlesque moments. What he particularly appreciates about this composer is the "great freedom of interpretation" - his aim: "Sung as if it had passed his lips for the very first time."
