For many people, Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio is as much a part of the festive season as the nativity scene, candlelight and the smell of cookies. This year, the St. Eberhard Cathedral Chapel, in cooperation with the Baroque Orchestra of the Stuttgart Philharmonic, will not only be performing Cantatas 1+3, but also inviting visitors to sing along to the chorales in several voices, as is tradition. Each and every listener thus becomes part of the music and shares in the proclamation of the Christmas story. The cathedral chapel and cathedral conductor Lydia Schimmer are looking forward to the participation of the audience. Before being invited to sing along, the audience can sit back and listen to the lively Magnificat by Bach's son Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach.
As an encore, the audience can expect to participate in a nice surprise.
Please bring your own sheet music and scores. For those who do not have them themselves, the sheet music is printed in the free program booklet at the box office.
