Lecture by Dr. Christine Krämer at the Stuttgart City Archive.

Numerous wine wholesalers in Germany have been run by Jewish entrepreneurs since the end of the 19th century. This was also the case in Württemberg. Today, nothing reminds us of the Jewish wine merchants - after the National Socialists came to power, they were marginalized, persecuted and destroyed. The lecture is a search for traces that deals with the significance of the Jewish wine wholesale trade using the example of Stuttgart, shows individual fates and, last but not least, asks who profited from the elimination of the Jewish wholesalers and how this changed the structures in the wine trade.

Christine Krämer studied regional history at the University of Tübingen, where she completed her doctorate with a thesis on the history of grape varieties in Württemberg. The freelance historian has also been working in the wine sector for over 30 years and regularly publishes articles on the history of wine.
