The Kai Wieprecht Quartet is a heartfelt project born out of close friendship and continuous musical exchange.
The music thrives on shared energy, intensive listening and the moment in which the four musicians inspire each other. The pieces are created in a collective process and are constantly reshaped in concert.
The Kai Wieprecht Quartet has grown out of friendship, trust and a long musical exchange. The focus is not on individual self-expression, but on the energy that arises when four musicians listen attentively to each other, react and inspire each other to create intense musical moments.
The music is created in a collective process. Pieces are developed together and understood as open starting points that leave room for spontaneity, change and risk. As a result, no two concerts are the same - the music is formed in the moment, borne by closeness, tension and shared responsibility.
Saxophonist Kai Wieprecht brings the musicians together as a unifying figure and creates the framework for open, equal interplay. With Oskar Rimmele on piano, Ilja Tarnopolski on drums and Nils Becker on bass, an ensemble is created that understands jazz as a lively dialog - concentrated, honest and directly anchored in the moment.
Line-up: Kai Wieprecht (sax); Oskar Rimmele (piano); Nils Becker (bass); Ilja Tarnopolski (drums)
