Kerstin Langenberger & Olaf Krüger

Location:
Theaterhaus, Siemensstr. 11, 70469 Stuttgart

Olaf Krüger and Kerstin Langenberger are united by their enthusiasm for the nature and culture of the north. After six busy years of research, they present the most beautiful and wildest islands of Northern Europe in a thrilling live show!

Iceland, the legendary natural wonder of fire and ice. Greenland, home of the Inuit and astonishing records. Svalbard, the Arctic Eldorado for wildlife photographers from all over the world. The island state of the Faroe Islands, which is as famous for its capricious weather as it is for its cliffs. And of course: the Lofoten Islands, which are not only home to cod fishermen, but also a true paradise for lovers of the Northern Lights.

The award-winning nature photographer Kerstin Langenberger has lived in Scandinavia for ten years. For the lecture, she photographed the eruption of the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajökull, among other things. She spent a year in Spitsbergen training as an Arctic Nature Guide, encountered polar bears and walruses and documented the longest sled dog race in Europe.

Olaf Krüger, a photojournalist and passionate traveler, hiked for weeks through Hornstrandir, Iceland's rugged north, before getting to know the breathtaking nature of East Greenland. It stands in stark contrast to the sobering living conditions of the Inuit. On the Faroe Islands, he attended one of the legendary grotto concerts by composer Kristian Blak and was infected by the enthusiasm of the Faroese for soccer. He noticed time and again that the clocks tick more slowly on the 18 islands in the North Atlantic. The word "kanska" (maybe) is deeply rooted in the Faroese vocabulary and the weather still determines whether the ferry really leaves!

Kerstin and Olaf have spared no expense for the live multivision "Islands of the North": vivid portraits, exhilarating landscape shots and the Northern Lights dancing across the screen in never-before-seen time-lapse sequences entice you to marvel and dream. Rarely have viewers experienced the fragile beauty of the North so directly - unless they have traveled there themselves.

Kerstin Langenberger fell head over heels in love with Scandinavia after leaving school and has since spent over ten years in Iceland and one year each in Norway, South Georgia and Spitsbergen. The globetrotter works as an Arctic Nature Guide, hut warden, ranger and photographer. Her extraordinary pictures have won numerous international awards, including the "GDT European Nature Photographer of the Year", "Glanzlichter" and "Asferico". Her first photo book "50 Highlights Iceland" was an instant bestseller.

For Kerstin Langenberger, the camera is the medium with which she can best express her love of nature.

can convey. She expects and works out her motifs on often long (ski) hikes and deliberately avoids motorized transport. She tries to reconcile her life with climate and nature conservation as best she can and to inspire others to treat nature with respect.

Olaf Krüger has been one of the best-known and most successful lecturers in the German-speaking world for many years and has made a name for himself as a photojournalist specializing in India and the far north of Europe. He studied art history and German language and literature in Tübingen. His great passion for travel and photography took him around the globe before he traveled to India for the first time in 1990. In 2011, he was awarded the Gisela Bonn Prize for special achievements in the field of Indo-German relations and for his work as a photojournalist in New Delhi.

Since 2004, he has devoted himself in particular to Iceland and the Arctic. His photo book "50 Highlights Iceland" has been a bestseller for years. Most recently, the volume "Sagenhaftes Island" was published by Frederking & Thaler in 2019 and "Das Reisebuch Island" by Bruckmann in 2022.

Olaf's pictures and reportages have been published many times (GEO, Die Zeit, Spiegel, Harenberg and Weingarten-Kalenderverlag, Abenteuer und Reisen, etc.). He is a regular photographer for the imagebroker photo agency and founder of the Stuttgart lecture series TRAUM & ABENTEUER, as well as the online portal WELT & WIR.
