Flower girl Eliza Doolittle meets linguistics professor Henry Higgins and his friend Colonel Pickering. The two make fun of Eliza's street language, but the next day she stands confidently at the professor's door and asks him to teach her "proper" English. He makes a bet with Colonel Pickering and accepts the task. Eliza undergoes a miraculous transformation from poor flower girl to respected lady.
