The exhibition presents outstanding testimonies to Franco-German history from the late Middle Ages to the present day.
Outstanding testimonies commemorate Franco-German history from the late Middle Ages to the present day. Groundbreaking encounters across borders are thus impressively demonstrated - in peace and war, in friendship, competition and partnership.
The focal points of Franco-German history are arranged here as ensembles of significant documents and precious objects. They are presented in both languages - from 1274 to 2026.
The political and cultural proximity of France and Germany is particularly evident in the close ties between Württemberg and Montbéliard and Alsace and Strasbourg. The rich holdings of the Stuttgart Main State Archives and important international artifacts document the intensive exchange across political and cultural borders over the centuries.
