An ecosystem opens up to us that was previously incomprehensible. A microcosm or no! A whole universe? A world with its own time calculation and unique habitat. Something seems to be in the offing. Slowly, the cosmos begins to totter.

My brother fished a pile of horse bones out of the river. My grandmother gave me my great-great-grandmother's black skirt. Horse and skirt meet on the riverbank and dig for hope.
