BEETHOVEN | Symphony No. 2 in D major op. 36

Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra
Conductor: Aldo Sisillo
Gioacchino Rossini (1792-1868) composed almost 40 operas, most of which have disappeared from the repertoire today, including "La Scala di Seta" (The Silken Ladder) from 1812. Only the lively, entertaining overture is still a welcome guest in symphonic concerts. Mozart's (1756-1791) only concerto to include a harp is, like Beethoven's (1770-1827) 2nd Symphony, very popular with audiences.
The Italian Aldo Sisillo is director and principal conductor at the Teatro Comunale in Modena. He completed his studies at the conservatories of Naples and Bologna and is also a guest conductor with many Italian and foreign opera houses and concert orchestras. This will be his first appearance with the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra. The two soloists in Mozart's concerto are leading members of the Stuttgart Philharmonic.
