The members of the ensemble La Protezione della Musica are sound archaeologists who dedicate themselves to rarely performed music from the German-speaking early Baroque period - with scholarly precision, but also a great deal of musical empathy and enthusiasm for rediscovered treasures. Heinrich Schütz's psalm compositions correspond with works by his pupils: Nicolaus Heineccius also set Luther's prayer for peace to music, and the psalm setting "Herr wie lang wiltu mein" by Duchess Sophie Elisabeth zu Mecklenburg reflects the political and religious tensions of the Thirty Years' War. Also to be heard: Easter music by the Stuttgart collegiate organist Böddecker!
