Let's hear it for the boy

Location:
FITZ Das Theater animierter Formen, Eberhardstr. 61, 70173 Stuttgart

A dance production about courage and vulnerability - poetic, reflective and with subtle humor.
Artistic direction, choreography: Emi Miyoshi | In collaboration with the dancer Johannes Blattner, Marģers Vanags | Music: Tom Schneider (FARN Kollektiv) | Dramaturgy: Edan Gorlicki (Interaktionen) (Inter-Actions)| Lighting concept: Steffen Melch
Inspired by Bob Dylan's moment of hesitation during the recording of "We are the World", "Let's hear it for the boy" by Emi Miyoshi & Shibui Kollektiv opens up a space for male vulnerability. At a time when gender boundaries are becoming more permeable, while at the same time old role models are regaining influence, the Freiburg choreographer - the only woman in the artistic team - deliberately approaches the subject from the outside. With an inquisitive eye and empathetic attitude, she does not interpret, but penetrates - raw, direct, undisguised.
The focus is on the moment of transition: from breath to voice, from tension to expression, from boy to man. That fragile moment in which the invisible becomes visible and vulnerability becomes audible. The Japanese term "nodo botoke", literally "throat Buddha", turns the Adam's apple into a poetic symbol for maturation and hidden vulnerability - where the voice emerges and falters.
