Licht der Heiden

Location:
Hospitalhof Stuttgart, Büchsenstraße 33, 70174 Stuttgart

At the end of the year and thus also at the end of an extraordinary concert year for the Württemberg Chamber Choir, the choir's newly appointed director, Lukas Grimm, is planning a very special program combination: "Light of the Gentiles" will include Advent cantatas by Baroque composers, such as the title-giving work "Come, Light of the Gentiles" and other works by Dieterich Buxtehude, "Der Sionitin Wiegenlied" by his contemporary Johann Theile and the magnificent "Magnificat" by an anonymous composer, which was long attributed to Buxtehude. The ensemble "il capriccio" accompanies the choir on period instruments. On the other hand, a cappella motets from the 20th and 21st centuries will be performed, which perfectly complement the program around the theme of "light", such as the pieces "Lume" (2007) by Andrea Tarrodi and "The Darkness Is No Darkness" (1993) by Judith Bingham.
