Literary classics from Ukraine! From autumn 2025, a multi-volume Ukrainian library will go on tour and close a gap in the collective memory: authors such as Taras Shevchenko, Lesya Ukrajinka, Olha Kobyljanska and Mychail Semenko are missing due to a lack of translations.
hardly known in German-speaking countries. The Ukrainian Library, founded by the Ukrainian-Austrian writer Tanja Maljartschuk and the translator and cultural mediator Claudia Dathe, is doing pioneering work here and broadening our view of world literature. From 2025 to 2027, the series will be published in eight volumes and presented in many cities. In Stuttgart, Tanja Maljartschuk presents Lesja Ukrajinka's literature, translated by Maria Weissenböck. The authors Haska Shyyan and Carola Hilmes will be in conversation with Maljartschuk. The "Poesiekollektiv Landschaft" led by Ulrike Almut Sandig will accompany the evening with music.
