Rapper Lloyd Banks was born Christopher Charles Lloyd in Baltimore in 1982.
He began his career as a member of the East Coast hip-hop group G-Unit, which he founded in 1999 with his childhood friends 50 Cent and Tony Yayo. Following the release of their debut album "Beg for Mercy" (2003), his first solo album "The Hunger for More" (2004) was released the following year. The album was acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, reaching number one on the Billboard 200 and spawning the top ten single "On Fire" and the top 20 single "Karma" (with Avant or Kevin Cossom). His second album "Rotten Apple" (2006) reached number three on the Billboard 200 and received mixed reviews. In 2010, he signed with EMI - together with his G-Unit colleagues - to release his third album "H.F.M.". 2 (The Hunger for More 2) in November of the same year, which enjoyed a critical recovery and climbed to number 26 in the charts.
"Beamer, Benz, or Bentley" reached No. 49 on the Billboard Hot 100. In early June, Banks released the album's second single, "Any Girl," featuring R&B singer Lloyd. The third single "Start It Up" with Swizz Beatz, Kanye West, Ryan Leslie and Fabolous followed on November 2, 2010. Lloyd released the fourth single from the album, "I Don't Deserve You", featuring R&B singer Jeremih.
Over ten years later, he self-released his fourth album "The Course of the Inevitable" (2021) to critical acclaim.
