Maffay + Oerding are releasing their joint album “Nashville” (Release Date: October 2, 2026)
Joint arena tour in April and May 2027
Eleven dates in Oberhausen, Berlin, Hamburg, and Dortmund. Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt, Hanover, Leipzig, and Stuttgart

It was the sensation of Saturday night: At his home show in front of 45,000 people at Hamburg’s Volksparkstadion, Johannes Oerding not only brought Peter Maffay on stage—the two also used the moment to make an announcement that hardly anyone had expected: As Maffay + Oerding, the duo will release their joint album “Nashville” this coming October and then embark on a major arena tour together. Pre-orders for the album and advance ticket sales for the tour are now open. The first single, “Ein Leben lang ist nicht lang,” will be released on June 26.

“Nashville” is the result of an intense bond between two artists that has grown over the years. Maffay and Oerding share a long-standing friendship—two kindred spirits united by mutual appreciation, musical respect, and a personal closeness that goes far beyond their individual joint performances. Their first interactions took place in connection with Peter Maffay’s MTV Unplugged project, and later the two met time and again both on and off stage. Among their best-known collaborations is the duet “Wenn wir uns wiedersehen”; Oerding also accompanied Maffay on his major farewell tour in 2024 and reinterpreted the classic “Eiszeit” for his final album.

A joint album was never part of the plan. What began as a casual encounter between two musicians who had known and respected each other for a long time gradually developed into something bigger. At some point in their conversation, Maffay and Oerding realized that despite their different musical worlds, they shared the same core—rock ’n’ roll, rhythm and blues, country rock, and a love for handcrafted, narrative music.

What would happen if they brought all that together? Across generations, without labels. In Tutzing, they sat down together, reviewed song material, and searched for common ground. Initial sessions turned into demos, and demos suddenly became a treasure trove of songs—and at some point, it became clear: This was no longer an experiment, but an album.

To bring the project to life, Maffay and Oerding deliberately chose musicians who are authentic and grew up with this music. “Nashville” was recorded live last year at the renowned Blackbird Studio in Nashville—a city that has always breathed Americana, country, and classic songwriting. In just five days, they created an album that never falls into country clichés but instead embraces this influence as a mindset: close to the instruments, the voices, and the songs, while unmistakably carrying the DNA of both artists.

The result is eleven songs—a complete duet album on which both artists perform together on every single track. You can tell from the tracks that this wasn’t produced on a drawing board—but rather that two artists came together who listen to one another and have long since achieved everything there is to achieve in German music.

With 21 number-one albums on the Official German Charts, Peter Maffay holds the record—more than any other artist in the national album charts worldwide. He has sold over 50 million records, has been one of the country’s most successful live performers for more than five decades, and, as the creator of Tabaluga, is one of the defining figures of German music and pop culture. With three number-one albums, gold and platinum certifications, over a million records sold, and sold-out arena concerts, Johannes Oerding is one of the most successful and influential German pop artists of his generation.

That’s precisely why “Nashville” doesn’t feel like a calculated summit meeting, but rather like a genuine labor of love. For Peter Maffay, it means more than just a comeback: Following his “We Love Rock ’n’ Roll” farewell tour in 2024—with which he had officially bid farewell to major tours—“Nashville” is the reason reconsider his decision—because this project is too important not to experience it live as well.

For Johannes Oerding, “Nashville” also means expressing his own love for handcrafted, narrative music with empathetic lyrics and a clear stance, blending humor and depth. Friendship turns into music, mutual respect into a shared sound, and two life stories into an album that builds a bridge: between rock and pop, Nashville and Germany, the studio and the stadium.
