Gustav Mahler's music allows us to look into the depths of the soul. The works of the famous composer bear witness to a time of extremes: the world at the end of the 19th century, full of progress on the one hand and misery on the other. The ballet evening MAHLER X DREI MEISTER brings the composer together with three masters of dance. In Das Lied von der Erde, Kenneth MacMillan traces an entire life to Mahler's song symphony of the same name. Maurice Béjart's Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen follows a journeyman on his travels. Always present on his path is a messenger of death - or is it his guardian angel? John Cranko created Spuren in the middle of the Cold War as one of his last works. To Mahler's unfinished 10th Symphony, Cranko created his most political piece, in which a woman who has survived a totalitarian regime tries to find her way in her new environment. A work that seems more topical than ever more than 50 years after its premiere.
