Marc-Antoine Charpentier : Te Deum in D-Dur

Location:
Stiftskirche Stuttgart, Stiftsstraße 12, 70182 Stuttgart

Marc-Antoine Charpentier's Te Deum in D major is the French composer's best-known work. It is a Grand Motet, a special form of motet for soloists, choir and orchestra, which was developed at the court of Louis XIV. Charpentier composed this Te Deum towards the end of the 17th century when he was Kapellmeister at the Church of Saint-Louis of the Jesuits in Paris. This piece, known as the Eurovision anthem, is rehearsed and performed jointly by three boys' choirs.

In the concert, it will be performed together with other works sung by three boys' choirs from Slovenia, Switzerland and the host choir Germany.
This concert is the musical highlight of the 125th anniversary year of the Stuttgarter Hymnus-Chorknaben and is the final concert of a four-day choral encounter with joint workshops with the different choir conductors and rehearsals of the works that will be presented in the concert.
