Martin Wind „Gravity Trio” feat. Peter Weniger & Jonas Burgwinkel

Three heavyweights of the European jazz scene - a trio that lives up to its name. When Martin Wind, Peter Weniger and Jonas Burgwinkel take to the stage, a musical gravitational field is created that is hard to escape.

The trio already attracted international praise with their acclaimed debut album Gravity. The American Downbeat Magazine even made a bold comparison - with Sonny Rollins' legendary Way Out West. An accolade for this classic formation of bass, tenor saxophone and drums.

After two successful European tours in 2023 and a top-class performance at the JazzBaltica Festival - together with Belgian guitar icon Philip Catherine as special guest - the trio is now following up:In spring 2026, the Gravity Trio will go on tour with its new album September. The production, which was created in the USA, seamlessly builds on the energy and depth of the first album: lively, fresh original compositions by Wind and Weniger meet rarely played standards by Kurt Weill, Alec Wilder and Joe Zawinul - complemented by the Brazilian evergreen "Pro Zeca".

The album is a tribute to the pianist and composer Jim McNeely, Martin Wind's long-time mentor and musical companion, who died in September 2025. His death on the morning of the first day of recording lends this music a special emotional depth.

As a special highlight, there was a transatlantic summit meeting in the studio: Scott Robinson, a key figure in Wind's American work, met Peter Weniger for the first time in the studio. Two musical voices, two continents - united on one album.
