25 years of the Literaturhaus - Floating. A program of contrasts in difficult times

Reading and discussion with Saša Stanišić, moderated by Lotta Mayer

Saša Stanišić takes the amazement of a (current) circle as a rectangle as an opportunity to ask about the current sources and images of life - and about the mobility to break free from forms, to question habits, to take a step back in order to take a new look at the mixture of small (rectangular circuits) and large (petrified world situations). His volume brings together speeches against doing nothing, both spoken and unspoken, because, according to Saša Stanišić, we have to do something about the hardships and suffering of people. Everyone can do something. Give, help, take responsibility. And how and where does literature come into play here? Saša Stanišić relies on it: On the power of narrative, of story. Because his speeches are just that: clever stories against the gravity of the world. Saša Stanišić was born in Višegrad (Yugoslavia) in 1978 and has lived in Germany since 1992. His works have been translated into more than forty languages and have received many awards. Saša Stanišić lives and works in Hamburg, where he also coaches an F-Youth soccer team.
