Lecture by Dr. Georg Noack, Linden-Museum Stuttgart

In 2014/15, the Linden-Museum presented the exhibition Myanmar: The Golden Land and in 2019 LindenLAB 1, which explored new forms of cooperation with representatives of indigenous minorities from Myanmar. Both projects were driven by the euphoric hope of a better future in a successfully democratizing state. Today, just a few years later, the country is mired in a bloody war waged by the military against armed resistance groups. The ruling military government only controls parts of the country and has villages and towns conquered by the resistance bombed by the air force. What happened?

The picture shows the bombing of Kyauktaw, a town held by resistance forces, by the Myanmar Air Force in January 2025 (or the effects of the bombing).
