Leonard Bernstein's love story á la "Romeo and Juliet", known as "West Side Story", can certainly be described as his most impressive work. The perfect musical realization of the gripping plot and the combination of jazz elements with a large orchestra are unique. The rhythms of the Central Americans from New York's East Side also lend the work a special tension. Many years ago, the Frank Dupree Trio began interpreting individual songs from "West Side Story" as a jazz trio and improvising on them. As part of the Nachtschwärmer concerts, all the songs are performed in one evening, as a tribute to Leonard Bernstein and with plenty of freedom to improvise.
The NACHTSCHWÄRMER - KONZERTE combine the BIX jazz club with the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra. This is about composed and improvised music, music for classical symphony orchestra or jazz trio, for string quartet and jazz quartet.
The Gustav-Siegle-Haus will be open from 18:00. The BIX restaurant will be offering drinks and snacks, and a jazz band will be welcoming guests from 19:30. At 20:30, the event continues in the main hall of the Gustav-Siegle-Haus with the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, followed by live music in a relaxed jazz club atmosphere in the BIX.
18:00: Admission & catering in the BIX Jazzclub
19:30: LiveJazz in the foyer of the Gustav-Siegle-Haus
20:30: Great Hall Gustav-Siegle-Haus
