The sound world of Claude Debussy anticipated much of what jazz later discovered and learned. As in "La Mer", many jazz musicians have also composed and improvised about the sea. Jazz festivals by the sea, Newport Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival Holland, Montreux Jazz Festival and Jazz Baltica became special events. This Nachtschwärmer concert will exclusively feature jazz songs about the sea and water by Chick Corea, Kurt Weill, George Gershwin and, 100 years after Wagner's "Holländer" from the 1940s, the songs "La Mer" by Charles Trenet and "Sea Breeze" and "Cool Breeze" by Dizzy Gillespie.

The NACHTSCHWÄRMER - KONZERTE combine the BIX jazz club with the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra. This is about composed and improvised music, music for classical symphony orchestra or jazz trio, for string quartet and jazz quartet.
The Gustav-Siegle-Haus will be open for this from 18:00. The BIX restaurant will be offering drinks and snacks, and a jazz band will be welcoming guests from 19:30. At 20:30, the event continues in the main hall of the Gustav-Siegle-Haus with the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, followed by live music in a relaxed jazz club atmosphere in the BIX.
