Inspired by Beethoven's last string quartet, the "Band in the Bix" will dedicate itself to the most famous and style-defining jazz quartet in history, the John Coltrane Quartet. His album "Giant Steps" (1959) astonished the jazz world. Here we take a closer look at the early 1960s, when the John Coltrane Quartet rose to fame in concert halls around the world. Band in the Bix founder Obi Jenne was lucky enough to meet the drummer of the John Coltrane Quartet at the age of twelve. Two days of lessons and the inspiration that Elvin Jones gave him are one of his most important experiences. Hubert Nuss, an exceptional pianist, sits on McCoy Tyner's piano chair and Jean-Philippe Wadle, a bassist who, like Jimmy Garrison, lays the earthy and alert foundation for Libor Šima's flights of fancy.

The NACHTSCHWÄRMER CONCERTS combine the BIX jazz club with the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra. This is about composed and improvised music, music for classical symphony orchestra or jazz trio, for string quartet and jazz quartet.
The Gustav-Siegle-Haus will be open for this from 18:00. The BIX restaurant will be offering drinks and snacks, and a jazz band will be welcoming guests from 19:30. At 20:30, the event continues in the main hall of the Gustav-Siegle-Haus with the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, followed by live music in a relaxed jazz club atmosphere in the BIX.
